I did look at that post before I added this discussion.  I didn't see a solution in it, however - did I miss something?

Can you explain what you mean by "reinstalled via vmware tools"?  Does VMware Tools have a UI?  I've only ever see the "about".

I do have VMware SVGA 3D (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM), but it is dated 9/17/2009, version 7.14.1.31
