Hello. I'm relatively new to the virtual environment, just under a year, and I'm having trouble with templates and cloning. Here's the story.
ESXi 5.1.0, build 799733
vSphere Client 5.1.0, build 786111
The system was setup last Fall with the aid of a consultant who also gave me a couple of days of training on VMware. It has worked great until I shut down the system to add some physical memory. I think I probably turned the box off before ESXi was done shutting down because the kernel ended up getting corrupt. I ended up having to reinstall ESXi while preserving the database. I've got, I think, everything working except for some reason I cannot use templates. In vSpere Client, the option to "Show Templates in Inventory" in the view menu is grayed out and there is no option to clone, nor is there a templates option when right clicking a VM. I am logged in as an administrator account and have full access to everything as best as I can tell, I'm just not able to do these things. I can create other administrator accounts and new roles too. What am I missing?
