Hello all,
I have two VMware ESX 4.1 clusters (Cluster A and Cluster B) comprising of three hosts each. The cluster environment has four Datastores: DS_1,DS_2,DS_3 and DS_4. Please note that hosts on Cluster A have different processor architecture from hosts on Cluster B meaning that vMotion (live migration) is not an option am looking at in this case.
These Datastores all contain RDMs (descriptors for the actual LUN) for a number of LUNs mapped to about 10 VMs on Cluster A.
My requirement is to migrate the 10 VMs to Cluster B which contains hosts that all have access to DS_1,DS_2,DS_3 and DS_4. I have read a lot of documentations and online KBs on migrating VMs with RDMs but non seem to address my scenario. Most of them addressed moving the VMs and the RDMs.
My questions are:
1. Can I just remove the VMs from the inventory of the hosts on Cluster A and then add them up on Cluster B; I hope this wouldn't break anything.
2. Do I remove the LUNs as some people rightly suggested and then do a cold migration.
3. What other option(s) do I have .
Counting on you guys, thanks in anticipation...
