Good afternoon. I have (3) W2K8 VMs residing on a dedicated ESXi host with 256GB RAM, the VMs are assigned 8GB, 128GB &128GB vRAM and I'd like to know if there's a way to eliminate or minimize the size of each their associated .vswp files to conserve space on the VMFS volume, but still allow the VMs to share memory on the host. I know I can use the reservation method to reduce or eliminate the .vswp files, but am concerned that would prevent memory management mechanisms from operating. Defining a resource pool on the host seems the best answer, although I've never defined one before and am reading up on them now. I posed this question to VMware support at HP and they flung me a message containing a few URLs on resource pools and an article from Tech Republic on using the reservation feature to eliminate the .vswp file. I'm hoping that someone has done something similar out there. Thank you in advance for your response.

there is no real solution today other then:
1) using local storage for your swapfiles
2) setting reservations
3) using cheap shared storage
I have filed a feature request for an alternative solution, not sure if / when that would go in-to the release.
