Perhaps I was not clear. Windows 8.1 is the VMware VM. Windows Server 2-012 R2 is a nested Hyper-V VM. It is the Windows 8.1 VMware VM that takes a very long time to boot. (BTW I have disable all programs ever VMware Tools but have not yet tried to disable unessary Windows Services which could be holding things up. Once it is booted its pretty fast (again though it has 8GB of memory). However when I boot the Hyper-V VM which is nested that is way fast to boot (also runs pretty quickly for the configuration). My main interest in the Hyper-V machine is tlaht is has Internet connectivity which is does. Both Windows programs are optimized in the sense that min and max swap[ files are the same value - eliminated thrashing and hibernation is turned off
