Well first of all one should be making proper backups to restore from if/when necessary and IMO one should remove the Parent of the Clones from the Library so as not to accidentally use it even though a Snapshot of the Parent is made and changes wouldn't wouldn't apply directly to the Parent Disk that the Linked Clone is linked to unless one does something to directly modify the Parent Disk.  So the bottom line for me is all that I've mentioned thus far as well as setting the Parent virtual hard disk to be Read-Only!
