problem with resolution change and autofit window in XFCE

I am runnning Xubuntu in VMware Workstation.

Xubuntu 1204 and 1304, 32bit and 64 bit.

The problem is: After clean install I want to change the resolution in the guest OS. After that it there is a logout (which is not normal).

Then I cannot log back in, I get an infinite logon loop.

I disabled Autofit window and set center guest. After that I can use Xubuntu normally but in a smaller window.

This happens only in xfce, not other desktop environments. I tried Gnome, Gnomefallback, KDE MATE, good old Gnome 2.

Is there a fix for this?

It does not matter if VMWare tools are installed or not. clean install and resolution change is sufficient to reproduce this.
